An exciting new project is under way, to build The Legacy, a military museum and Veterans Center. The cornerstone of The Legacy, is the building located at 820 Main Street in downtown Racine, WI. Built in 1854, it was the last residence of Racine’s founder, Captain Gilbert Knapp and is being restored to its original grandeur. Plans call for the removal of two buildings north of 820 Main Street to Make room for a beautiful new facility. This website will serve as a source of information concerning the project, it’s progression, the fund raising campaign underway and the most updated information. It will also take shape as a source for information concerning Racine, WI military history, it’s veterans organizations, active and veteran service people of Racine County and more! Please refer back to this site often, as there will constantly be new information for you to view.
